The Ferrari 348 (Type F119) is a mid-engine V8-powered 2-seat sports car produced by Ferrari, replacing the 328 in 1989 and continuing until 1995. It was the final V8 model developed under the direction of Enzo Ferrari before his death, commissioned to production posthumously.
Ferrari introduced the 348 as a long-awaited successor to the 308/328 series, which had been in production since 1976. A dramatic departure from its predecessor, the 348 took styling cues from the Testarossa (nicknamed the „Baby Testarossa“), with its side-mounted radiators and strakes, while having a longitudinally mounted engine with a transverse gearbox. This mid-engine arrangement mimicked the layout of Ferrari’s F1 cars at the time and looked like a “T” in plan form. The design helped centralize mass between the wheels. The 3.4 liter four-cam V-8 made 300 hp and propelled the car to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 171 mph. Standard anti-lock brakes afforded equally impressive stopping abilities.
The 348, badged 348 tb for the coupé (Transversale Berlinetta), featured a naturally aspirated 3.4-litre version of the quad-cam, four-valve-per-cylinder V8 engine. As with its predecessors, the model number was derived from this configuration, with the first two digits being the displacement of the engine and the third being the number of cylinders. The engine, which had a power output of 300 PS (221 kW), was mounted longitudinally and coupled to a transverse manual gearbox. The "t" in the model tb designations refers to the transverse position of the gearbox. Overall, 2.894 examples of the 348 tb were produced. The 348 represents a good choice for an enthusiast, as they are fantastic performers.
This completely original example has also the original rims, completed in the classic Rosso Corsa over Nero leather interior. The leather was renovated just a few months ago. The first regitration of the car is in February 1992, so only one year to achieve the historic car status. The MOT is valid until April 2022.
The car was bought at the official Ferrari Scuderia dealer in Germany. The previous owner was a Business Director at BMW in Munich. The belts were done at 50.515 kms for 3.493 EUR, invoice included. The car is now showiing 53.465 kms on the clock.
Oil and filter were changed last year. The front part of the car has been repainted, the exterior was also renovated and the condition of the body is now excellent. The car is without any modifications in the original design.
The service booklet is available only in electronic form. There is an original red cover for the 348 TB model included in the sale. The car was always stored in a dry garage, there are no visible signs of rust on the engine bay or underbody. The body is in excellent condition.
The car was also fully serviced and checked. A video of a test of the car is also included.
