The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2, introduced in 1967, was a grand tourer designed to appeal to those who wanted the performance of a sports car with the comfort of a luxury sedan. The 1970 model year saw some significant changes to the car, including a revised engine and suspension, that further enhanced its performance and driving experience.

Under the hood of the 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was a 4.4-liter V12 engine that produced 320 horsepower and 363 Nm of torque. This powerplant was paired with a five-speed manual transmission that allowed drivers to take full advantage of its performance capabilities. The engine was updated for the 1970 model year with a new crankshaft and connecting rods, as well as larger Weber carburetors that increased power and torque.

The suspension of the 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was also updated for better handling and ride quality. The front suspension was revised with new geometry and a wider track, while the rear suspension received new shock absorbers and a stiffer anti-roll bar. These changes made the car more responsive and predictable on the road, while still providing a comfortable ride for long-distance touring. This suspension was developed in conjunction with Koni and it featured a self-leveling system designed to assist in maintaining ride height when rear passengers were carried.

The exterior design of the 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was unchanged from the previous year, but it remained a stunning example of Italian automotive design. The car had a long, low hood and a sweeping roofline that tapered down to a short rear deck. The front end featured a prominent Ferrari grille and quad headlights, while the rear had a quad-exhaust system and a small spoiler.

Inside, the 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 offered a comfortable and luxurious cabin that was designed for long-distance touring. The seats were upholstered in leather and had ample legroom for four passengers, while the dashboard featured a comprehensive array of gauges and controls. The car also had air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, and a premium sound system as standard equipment.

Driving one of these "Queen Mothers" as Road & Track called them, is heightened by the sound of the car’s Weber carburetors, capable handling and braking (courtesy of four-wheel vented disc brakes).

The 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was a rare and exclusive car, with only 809 examples produced between 1967 and 1971. Its combination of performance, comfort, and style made it a favorite of discerning drivers who wanted the best of both worlds. Today, the car is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, and examples in good condition can command prices well into the six figures.

In conclusion, the 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was a high-performance grand tourer that combined Italian style, engineering excellence, and luxury in one package. Its powerful engine, responsive handling, and comfortable interior made it a joy to drive, while its exclusive status and timeless design ensured that it would remain a coveted collector's item for years to come.

This Italian market example spent 3 years in the UK for a complete nut and bolt renovation before coming in 2019 to the Czech Republic at a cost of ca. 90.000 GBP. This matching numbers example got also a Ferrari Classiche certification in 2017, confirming not only the matching numbers, but also the rare and stunning colour combination of Marrone Colorado over Pelle Beige leather. The compression test is also included in the gallery for each of the 12 cylinders.
