The Datsun Sports (called Datsun Fairlady in the Japanese and Australian markets), was a series of roadsters produced by Nissan in the 1960s. The series was a predecessor to the Z-car in the Fairlady line, and offered a competitor to the European MG, Triumph, Fiat and Alfa Romeo sports cars.
The Datsun 2000 was the two-seat roadster that made their name. Paul Newman started his racing career in one. It had a potent 1,982 cc overhead cam engine with dual SU type side draft carbs and a five-speed transmission.
The introduction of the 1967 SR311 and SRL311 saw a major update. Produced from March 1967 until April 1970, the SR311 used a 2.0 L (1.982 ccm) U20 engine and offered a five-speed manual transmission, somewhat unexpected for a production car at the time. An optional Competition package included dual Mikuni/Solex carburetors and a special "B" model camshaft.
Cars with the 2.0 litre engine in Japan were regarded as expensive, specialized, sports cars due to the annual road tax obligation.
This is the more powerful version Fairlady 2000 SR311, which has a manufacturer-supplied sport package that includes, among other things, a sharper camshaft, a modified carburetor that gives the car a power output in excess of 150 horsepower. For Japan, the regular Datsun Sports with the weaker 1.6 engine was the best seller, even back then because of emissions. That's why this untamed two-litre version is so valuable.
The car is after changing the operating fluids and filters, so 100% ready to drive. Car for sale due to selling off private collection.
An older renovation was done in Japan, fitted with the so-called club sport kit including Solex carburetors, camshaft, non-contact ignition, chassis-pushers, better brakes, wheels, LSD differential, internal protective frame. Very high quality and expensive set of these components.
Here in Czechia only minor work added (treatment of the floor in the interior, adjustment of the carburetor and other smaller things).
